DANCE IN YOUR UNDERWEAR
June 29, 2010

Reykjavik-based electro-pop trio FM Belfast formed in late 2005, and were just a studio project until the 2006 Iceland Airwaves Festival, when the band expanded into a full live act. In 2008, the group created World Champion Records and released their full length album, How To Make Friends, which is available in the US on Kimi Records. Their sound is a great mix of synth, pop, and dark electro. Songs are simple and very danceable.

The band recently debuted a brand new video for their single Underwear, with Stereogum (Vimeo version here), who noted that it's "lots of fun dancing, but it also strikes an eerie note, since it focuses on the ideas that: (a) lots of people dance alone, (b) in their underwear, and (c) not many people look beautiful dancing, especially once they're slowed down, sped up, or frozen. The result, however, is quite beautiful: Intimate, lonely, and still fun." Directed by DANIELS (production duo Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan), the video features heavily-manipulated footage of manic, bumbling and joyous solo dancers ending with them all in their skivvies.

FM Belfast is currently in the midst of festival tour across Europe and plans to hit the US later this year. Trend-setting Colette included the track Pump, a stripped-down and much slower version of Technotronic's Pump Up The Jam on their compliation Colette No. 10.

This Friday, RAW is back with another sleazy, disco party at the Green Lantern. It's gonna be hot and sweaty, perfect fro dancing in your underwear.
